게보사, 남서아이오와 연합 개발 협약 체결 – 탄소발자국 측정도입

미국 신재생에너지 기업인 게보사(주)가 남서아이오 신재생에너지(이하 SIRE)와 함께 일련의 탄소발자국(CI) 측정, 보고 및 검증하는 연합 개발 협약에 서명했다고 밝혔다.

이번 협약은 SIRE의 제품 포트폴리오의 탄소발자국을 줄이기 위한 설문조사와 같은 기후 스마트 농업 관행을 포함하는 전체 가치사슬에서 CI를 측정하기 위한 것이다.

게보사는 기존의 생물 기술과 더불어 유전자 수정 기술을 활용하여 원료 재고를 지속 가능한 식물 기반으로 전환해 나가는 방식을 채택하고 있다. 이와 같은 방식은 식물에서 이산화탄소를 분해하고, 천연가스로 사용될 수 있는 메탄 가스와 같은 대체 연료를 생산하는 것이 목적이다.
